In general, to qualify for the EB-1A Non-Citizen of Extraordinary Ability category, the person seeking permanent residence (the beneficiary) must be able to show “sustained national or international acclaim” and must show that his/her achievements have been recognized in the field of expertise. Evidence to show that you meet these requirements can be a one-time major international award, such as the Nobel Prize, along with evidence showing that he/she will continue to work in the same field of expertise, or the beneficiary can also document at least three of the following:

- Authorship of scholarly articles in professional or major trade publications or other major media.
- Artistic exhibitions or showcases.
- Performance in a leading or critical role for organizations or establishments that have a distinguished reputation
- High salary or remuneration in relation to others in the field.
- Commercial success in the performing arts
